Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent Far Cry game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while telling engaging, socially charged narratives. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose creations have represented all of those elements.

What to Expect

Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by having a new location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Creative Minds

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed magnificent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we have no details on what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney finalizing a new long-term contract with the producer.

“Being able to collaborate with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team constantly supports me with their constant confidence and support.”

“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Each game is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from season to season, while always exploring the nature of humanity through this intricate and unpredictable lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our shared irreverent, daring approach to the audience.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
