Pat Bamford Joins the Blades After Leading Abusive Chants Targeting Manager Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only half a year following instigating disrespectful songs directed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

The 32-year-old striker, a free agent after departing from Leeds, has signed a agreement with the second-tier strugglers through the winter. His seven-year time at Elland Road concluded amicably in August.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts while at Leeds included starting insulting songs about Wilder during the club’s success festivities this spring. Currently, the former England player will be playing for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to lift the team he loves out of the relegation zone.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

Both men had previous conflict before Leeds earned promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. Wilder described the forward as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

Everything appears has been forgiven and forgotten with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of improvement in attack and Bamford looking to revive his career.

The song about Wilder spread widely in April. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder said back then: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no problem whatsoever with that. I’m not sure about the words used from a fellow pro! However I valued and respected him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and similarly I spoke to Daniel too and we had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that’s an integral part of the game across all levels, including Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Playing Challenges

Bamford made 18 games with Leeds United last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough player has struggled with injury in recent years.
