Spurs Manager Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'
The Cottagers Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on Frank
Spurs supporters who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by manager Frank.
Tottenham conceded a pair of goals in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home loss of 2025.
But the main talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away the ball well outside his area.
He came out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the touchline.
But, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italian turned and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by King.
King passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who curled a shot into the net from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.
Moments later when the ball went to the keeper once more, some Tottenham fans booed him.
The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.
A particular of those jeering episodes truly irritated the manager.
"It came to my attention some of our fans reportedly jeered the situation and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.
"[They] can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are supporting one another, we are with one another moving ahead."
Tete had handed Fulham a early advantage prior to Harry Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Former top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the second score was "completely preventable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," Hart added. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent squad member, he's a true figure in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.
"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."
'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Match
Italy national team Vicario is in his third campaign with Spurs.
He said following the game that he had to take the feedback.
"The second goal was a mistake of my own, I take responsibility for that," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball far and I just struck the ball in a poor way. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."
He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".
"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.
"It's on us to stay more composed, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad defeat and it is hard to accept."
'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an simple goal for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League goal of the season – following Tyler Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally too came on Saturday.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit surprised" that he still had an empty net to aim for.
10 moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was five moments after the kick.
"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the area for a long time," he said.
"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them defended the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little additional opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I had a good sense, the moment it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Work Against You'
Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Totally Unacceptable - the Manager
While the keeper's error dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
The match was their 10th at home loss of the year in the league, a shared team statistic matching 1994 and two thousand and three.
They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions Liverpool to play before the close of the season.
Only one of those wins have occurred after the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.
"If you are down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.
"When you're in a poor run, all aspects appears to work against you too – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a mistake from Vic.
"This result leaves us in a position where we have suffered another match. Each fixture has a unique story, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and hopefully an aspect we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive at home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.
Furthermore they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 shots on target per match in the division – their lowest rates on file in a one campaign (since at least 2003-04).
Former Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.
"He's got take the stick," the pundit said. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
